Lone Star French Roast - Cameron’s Review
After taking this bag of Lone Star French Roast home, I tried to look on the internet for it and came across an interesting discovery… This roast is incredibly hard to find. If you have an HEB, you might be in luck! It seems to be one of the only places that carries the Lone Star French Roast.
This roast is described as “dark, rich and bittersweet.” On first smell, it carries a medium to dark aroma. After brewing it in a French press, I notice a strong earthy flavor, typical of darker roasts, that is followed by a hint of sweetness. The sweetness reminded Mr. Brew of sugarcane.
For me, this is an easily drinkable and enjoyable cup of coffee. It tastes more like a medium roast than a dark, as it doesn’t carry as much of the punch I usually enjoy in French roasts.
I was able to read a little about what Cameron’s means by Organic coffee. The organic beans they harvest are grown without any chemical substances or additives and then roasted only after the machinery has been thoroughly cleaned in order to preserve the natural quality of the beans. I feel like this roasting process contributed to the lighter taste of the coffee.
If you are in HEB, check out the Lone Star French Roast and give it a try. It is a great daily roast that offers some natural sweetness and a medium-dark body.
Cheers,
Mrs. Brew
