Sweet Hearth - Summer Moon Review
It’s time to dive in to a medium roasted beauty from Summer Moon called Sweet Hearth. With notes of Spiced Dark Chocolate, it is right up our alley.
Sweet Hearth beans are well roasted, dark, and have a nice oily sheen. (An oily sheen means the flavors have been extracted to the surface adding fullness to your cup; this is often lacking in lighter roasted coffees.) We ground our beans to a medium-fine grind to brew it to our usual specs in our French press: 37 g grounds, 24 oz of 202℉, steep 4 minutes. Right away, there is a rich aroma of dark and creamy chocolate and a tiny hint of cinnamon.
In flavors, the spices are more warming to the palate than forward and pronounced as I expected. But I am not disappointed by that! The dark chocolate is as rich in flavor as aroma and has a creamy, fudgey fullness. Blend that sweet creaminess with the warming cinnamon spices and you have a full-bodied craveable cup of coffee.
I have always enjoyed Summer Moon for their lattes and Moon Milk, but I have grown to appreciate the level of quality and commitment to their coffee beans. After bringing home their oak-roasted coffee, I can taste the love Summer Moon has in every cup. Each is roasted with precision and care to make sure that what I brew at home is worth my time and my money.
Of the three we’ve brewed and reviewed in the past few months, I have to put Sweet Hearth at the top of my favorites. I am a sucker for the warm cinnamon and fudgey dark chocolate that makes me want another cup, every time we brew it.
Sweet Hearth is worth every sip. Go grab some beans and brew it.
Cheers,
Mrs. Brew
