Blackberry Cobbler - Bones Coffee Review

bag of coffee with a dog sniffing a pie in the window

As we close out October and head into the final ‘Ber months of the year, we had to give our honest opinion of the last of Bones’ Fall Favorites: Blackberry Cobbler. And with a name like that (and a reputation for uncanny flavors) we are expecting quite a delicacy in our morning brew.

We brewed Blackberry Cobbler in the French press to our usual specs: 50g grounds, 32oz of 200-202℉ water, steep for 3-5 minutes.

The bloom is very active and I immediately smell the warming of blackberries. There is a hint of tartness and that familiar bready, Bones-classic, aroma. From the bag, this coffee is very aromatic and led me to fear I was in for an acidic, overly fruity coffee. But once fully brewed, it has a tart and sweet aroma that is less acidic than other coffees with prominent berry flavors.

Blackberry Cobbler is a fitting name, as it has a lighter body, bold blackberry that tingles the palate, and a balance of earthy berry notes and rustic coffee flavors. The coffee really does bring out both the sweet and earthy flavors of blackberries, which is what I love about them! Although this has a light body, it is not too thin (some lighter coffees have a red tint instead of black and taste watered down), so I am pleased.

If you enjoy your coffee with a side of dessert, skip the dessert and drink Blackberry Cobbler from Bones Coffee instead. This is a heart-warming, fall delicacy that will please sweet tooth and bold morning brewers alike.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
