Caramel Coffee - Panera Bread Review
Panera is known for their subs, soups, and delicious teas. But now they can add coffee to their repertoire with their new packaged coffees hitting the shelves. We were excited to take home the Caramel and brew up some sweeter coffees to enjoy with the warmer weather.
I’ll admit, I had some reservations about a purely caramel coffee as I don’t like when my coffee ends up overly sweet to the point of gut-aching. With those fears in the back of my mind, we brewed Panera Bread Caramel to our usual specs in the French press and…
We were pleasantly surprised! It is undoubtedly caramel both in aroma and flavor. The flavor is more balanced than the aroma, and reminded us of the toffee qualities one might find in a Highlander Grogg. Caramel Coffee has a light creaminess and a medium body, a touch of nuttiness (we want to say hazelnuts) that coats the tongue, and I also catch the occasional vanilla.
This is definitely a sweeter coffee and stays true to the buttery sweet caramel flavors, but it is not cloying. We easily drank this to the last drop and enjoyed every cup.
Drink it hot! If you let it cool too much, some of the underlying flavors turn the drink a touch acidic.
Cheers,
Mrs. Brew
