Churro - Bones Coffee Review

coffee mug and bag of coffee beans on the counter

Mr. Brew and I have been known to enjoy a churro now and then, so we were eager to see if Bones Coffee could pull off such a delightful flavor profile in our morning cup of coffee. We have tried several Bones Coffee’s over the years and have very high hopes. They consistently produce great coffees that nail the flavors described. Plus, they are the king of seasonal coffees and always keep us wondering what will escape the vault next.

Churro has a very active bloom (because Bones roasts their coffees in small batches to ensure peak freshness in every bag). It has a sweet, cinnamon-sugar and bready aroma that is not too overpowering but very pleasant. Those aromas transfer to forward flavors of cinnamon and sugar with the bready quality to follow. This medium roast is medium bodied and slightly thinner than I expected, but only by a small margin. The medium body (compared to dark roasts and other Bones blends) I believe heightens the gentle sweetness from the cinnamon and sugar.

Bones has hit the mark once again with a coffee that tastes exactly like dunking a cinnamon-sugared doughnut (or Churro, ha) in my coffee.

Barista Note: Drink this hot. If you let it cool too far it takes on an acidic quality and the sugary, bready goodness fades a touch.

Bones’ Churro is a delightful coffee that we are eager to brew to the last ground.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
