Veracruz Reserve - Café Mexicano Review
Today we are taking a trip to the Gulf of America to visit a unique region of Mexico: Veracruz. After trying other coffees from Cafe Mexicano, we are excited to see what flavors arrive in this medium-roasted, single-origin Veracruz Reserve.
We brewed Veracruz in our French press and right away noticed an active bloom. It has an aroma of mild fruit acidity with hints of chocolate — exactly as described. There is a touch of orange in both aroma and flavor over other types of fruit, and carries with it a touch of dryness and natural acidity, as real oranges do. The acidity definitely comes through in the flavor and is followed by the sweet, milk chocolate. Both the orange fruitiness and the chocolate are sweet and make this coffee taste more on the lighter side of medium roasts.
This is a good coffee if you enjoy sweet, bright flavors and is a great way to bridge into the heat of summer with fruity coffees that aren’t sickeningly sweet. But for me, this was still on the side of too sweet and acidic in flavor.
That being said, Cafe Mexicano has yet again shown their commitment to showcasing the unique regions of Mexico in their coffees. It was fresh, flavorful, and showed us a new region of coffee.
If you enjoy sweet coffees and want to try coffee from a region of Mexico you may not have before, give Veracruz Reserve a try.
Cheers,
Mrs. Brew
